05-09-EN Te Deum (To You we offer our praises)

1. To You we offer our praises,
You we acknowledge as Father eternal,
In You the whole earth rejoices, worshipping You
As its living Lord.
All of the angels adore in your presence,
Powers of heaven proclaiming your glory,
Cherubim cry out with ceaseless exulting,
Seraphim echo their song of joy.
Before the throne of your glory,
There they adore You in majesty unclouded,
By day, their clear voices praise You,
By night, their song resounds :

God of power and might !
The heavens and the earth are ablaze with your glory ! (2x)

2. Worshipping come the Apostles,
Who with the prophets proclaim You Almighty,
Ranks of the bright shining martyrs ; all sing your praise
With the Church on earth.
Father of majesty, holy, unbounded ;
Son of your promise, beloved and faithful ;
You, Holy Spirit, our friend and defender ;
God in three persons we sing your praise.
Christ, You are King of all glory,
Bringing salvation as promised by the Father ;
You took our humble condition ;
For us, became a slave.

3. You conquered death by your thriumph,
Opened the gates of the Kingdom to mortals,
Set on the right of the Father, You, we believe,
Come to judge the world.
Help us, your servants, o Lord, we beseech You,
Whom by your blood You have ransomed and purchased.
May we be numbered in glory unceasing
With all the saints who behold your face.
Rescue your people who call You,
Cherish and guard your inheritance for ever ;
Day after day we will bless You,
For ever, praise your name !
