R. Now in your hands you will receive
The Lord’s own flesh,
God who saved all the world, his body He gives.

1. The bread we eat is bread no more.
The wine we drink is no longer wine.
It is truly the body and blood of our risen Lord,
Who loves us so much that He gives Himself as our food.

2. The God we serve is not far away.
The God we receive has no heart of stone.
He is a God of tenderness and love,
Who wants to be close to us, to live with us.

3. I am the bread of life.
Your fathers ate manna but now they are dead.
This is the new bread, which comes from heav’n,
So that whoever eats it will not die.

4. I am the living bread come down from heav’n.
Whoever eats this bread will live forever.
The bread that I shall give
Is my flesh for the life of the world.

5. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
Lives in me and I in him.
As the Father sent me and I draw life from the Father,
Whoever eats me will draw life from me.
