R. O Joyful light that shines so bright,
Eternal splendour of the Father.
Holy light, peaceful light :
Jesus Christ the Lord !

1. The sun takes leave of us,
The night embraces us.
We sing to the Father,
We sing to the Son,
We sing to the Spirit,
Most holy Three-in-one !

2. We give you thanks and praise,
With pure and faithful hearts.
Our voices proclaim You,
The world gives you praise.
O Son of the Father,
Who gave eternal life !

3. Stay with us, Lord, we pray
As darkness closes round.
Enlighten our minds, Lord,
Enlighten our ways.
O light full of splendour,
O light that has no end !

4. To you we lift our hands,
We offer you our lives.
We sing in your temple,
We bless you, o Lord.
Like incense our prayer
Will rise before you throne !
