15-54-EN Magnificat (my soul proclaims)

R. My soul proclaims the greatness of God,
For He is my Saviour;
My soul proclaims the greatness of God,
For He is my strength.

1. Let my soul proclaim aloud the greatness of the Lord,
As my heart rejoices in my Saviour and God,
He has looked with mercy on his servant’s lowliness.
Generations from now on will praise Him with me.

2. Through me the almighty works his boundless power for all,
And his name is holier than all other names ;
He extends his faithful love for all eternity,
To all people who respond to his loving call.

3. With his outstretched arm, He shows his majesty and strength,
Scatters the proudhearted with their arrogant plans ;
Mighty kings and princes He has pulled down from their thrones
To exalt the humble and the lowly of heart.

4. He has filled the hungry with a banquet of good things,
He has sent the wealthy emptyhanded away ;
In his mercy, He has helped his servant Israel,
As He promised Abraham to cherish his sons.

5. Glory to the Father who created us in love ;
Glory to the Son in whom He gives us new life ;
Glory to the Spirit for the truth which sets us free ;
As it was, is now and shall be, age without end.
