Hail, star of the sea,
Bountiful Mother of God,

Gabrielis ore,

From the mouth of Gabriel,
Establish us in peace,
Changing the name of Eve.
3. Solve vincla reis,
Profer lumen caecis :

Loose the bonds of the guilty,

Ask (for us) all good things.
4. Monstra te esse matrem :
Sumat per te preces,

Show yourself to be (his) mother :
May he receive (our) prayers through you
Who, born for us,
Took it upon himself to be your (son).
5. Virgo singularis,
Inter omnes mitis,

Mites fac et castos.
Matchless virgin,
Meek above all others,
Having freed us from our faults,
Make us meek and chaste.
6. Vitam praesta puram,
Iter para tutum :
Ut videntes Jesum,
Semper collaetemur.
Keep our live pure,
And make our way safe,
That seeing Jesus,
We may for ever rejoice together.
7. Sit laus Deo Patri,
Summo Christo decus,
Spiritui sancto,
Tribus honor unus. Amen.
