R. Dwell in me, dwell in my love.
The fruit that you
Can bear will last forever.
1. I am the one true vine,
And my Father is the vine dresser.
Every branch that does bear fruit He prunes,
To make it bear even more.
2. As a branch cannot bear fruit all alone,
But remains part of the vine,
Neither can you bear fruit
Unless you remain in me.
3. If you remain in me, +
And my words remain in you,
You may ask what you will and you shall get it.
It is to the glory of my Father,
And then you will be my disciples.
4. As the Father has loved me, +
So have I loved you ;
Remain in my love :
If you keep my commandments,
You will remain in my love.
5. This is my commandment, +
Love one another
As I have loved you.
A man can have no greater love,
Than to lay down his life for his friends.
6. I shall call you no longer servants but friends,
Because I have made everything known to you that I have learnt from my Father.
I chose you to go out and to bear fruit,
Fruit that will last.
7. Glory be to the Father,
Glory be to the Son,
Glory be to the Holy Spirit
Now and for evermore. Amen.
