R. Wherever love and kindness dwell,
God Himself is always there ;
For we know that God is love ;
All love comes from Him.
1. For love consists of this :
It is not we who loved God,
But God loved us and sent his Son,
That we might have life through Him.
2. If God loved us so much,
We too should love one another.
No one has ever seen God,
But as long as we love one another, God remains in us.
3. This is the revelation of God’s love for us,
That God sent his only Son into the world ;
To prove that we remain in Him,
He has given us a share in his Spirit.
4. We have recognised God’s love for us,
And put our faith in Him.
For God is love,
And whoever remains in love, remains in God.
5. In love, there is no room for fear,
But perfect love drives out fear ;
Let us then love Him,
Because He first loved us.
6. Whoever does not love the brother he can see,
Cannot love God, whom he has not seen ;
Indeed this is his commandment,
That whoever loves God, must love his brother.
